Overview

This magical 12-Day tour welcomes you to the splendid African wilderness. You will be visiting a myriad of destinations offering excellent game viewing and primate encounters on African continent. In Kenya, you will begin with Lake Nakuru, Amboseli National Park, and Maasai Mara National Reserve to witness the great migration. While in Uganda, you will focus on primate parks such as Kibale National Park- the primate capital of the world, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park home to the largest mountain gorilla population.

Itinerary

DAY 1 :
Arrival

Be warmly welcomed into Kenya by your guide. Before you get to your hotel for relaxation, you will be enlightened about this combined wildlife and primate tour. If you arrive early, there will be a chance to also visit the giraffe centre and nearby sites within Nairobi city.

 

Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to Lake Nakuru National Park home to millions of beautifully colorful flamingos. Spend almost half day driving through the spectacular Great Rift Valley Escarpment and en route, you will have lunch. Continue up to the park and as you connect to your safari lodge for relaxation, enjoy a short en-route game viewing.

Meet your guide fully read to go for a long day game drive through spectacular Nakuru National Park landscapes. Today, you will be looking for diversity of animals such as hyenas, leopards, lions, antelope families, rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and more. Besides wildlife, there will be a chance to sight huge concentration of birds, especially flamingos. You will transfer back to the lodge late in the afternoon while spotting different wildlife as they get back to their areas after long day feeding.

Depart from Lake Nakuru N/Park to Maasai Mara, 5 hours’ drive in your comfortable 4WD vehicle. Arrive early and enjoy lunch at the lodge or safari camp. In the afternoon, you may go for a game drive to see variety of animals, especially the big five game or stay back at the lodge chilling.

Wake up early and today is dedicated for you to experience the best of Maasai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy a guided game drive through the savannas of Masai Mara while looking for the big game and other animals. Expected sightings for the day: elephants, rhinos, leopards, cheetahs, lions, hyenas, gazelles, and wildebeest. The great migration is perfectly experienced from July to October and the Mara river crossing is a special moment of its kind not to be missed.

You will catch up with departing flight from Maasai Mara Reserve to Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Arrive at the airport early and meet your driver for pick up and transfer to the hotel

After the morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale National Park. The half day drive comes with spectacular views of the countryside, and most importantly the Rwenzori Mountain ranges at background while at Fort Portal city, tea farms and craters. Before you proceed to the park, you will have lunch at a classic restaurant in Fort Portal city.

Have breakfast in the morning and after, you will embark on a guided chimpanzee tracking adventure. Get briefed about rules and regulations at Kanyanchu visitor centre and at 8:00 am, start the 2-4 hours of searching for habituated chimpanzee community. On finding chimps, you will have one hour for taking photos and observing the daily behaviors of chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Today’s sightings in the lush Kibale Forest also include other primates like l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, and others. When you return, lunch will be offered and in the afternoon, be transferred to Bigodi wetland for a guided walk with an experienced local guide. This will have you exposed to diversity of primates, birds and flora.

Get up early for breakfast and after, board ready to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP). Drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park and a short game drive will be enjoyed along Ishasha sector for you to see the tree climbing lions. Enjoy bush lunch and later continue to Bwindi NP.

Wake up early ready for your gorilla trekking adventure. Get briefed at the park offices and also allocated gorilla families to track. The park guide assigned to you will take you on a search for your gorilla family and today, you will have 2-6 hours in the jungles but includes one hour of a close encounter. Retreat after photo taking and observing how these unique apes behave. In the afternoon, you will have an addition of a cultural visit to the Batwa community.

After breakfast, leave Bwindi and cross to the scenic Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s deepest lake with 29 islands dotted all over it. At Lake Bunyonyi, the focus will be a canoe/boat ride to one of the finest islands and in the evening, leisure time at the lodge.

Start your road trip back to Kampala/Entebbe, driving via stunning hillside of Southwestern Uganda to Mbarara-Masaka. Have lunch at Igongo and photography at Equator in Kayabwe.
