A Global Stage for African Excellence

From May 11th to 14th, 2026, the global travel industry descended upon the Durban International Convention Centre for Africa's Travel Indaba. As one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar, it served as the perfect platform for Iconic Travel Services to showcase our unique approach to luxury travel in East Africa.

Our founder, Evelyn Sylvia Nakazi, was on the ground in Durban, South Africa, representing the "Pearl of Africa" and our curated portfolio of bespoke journeys across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

    Unlocking New Horizons

The theme of this year's Indaba focused on "Unlocking Tourism Potential," a mission that resonates deeply with our core values. For Iconic Travel Services, this meant not just showing photos of lions and gorillas, but explaining the design behind the experience. We spent four intensive days meeting with international travel advisors, boutique concierge services, and private travel designers from the US, Europe, and the Middle East.

"The energy in Durban was electric," says Evelyn. "There is a growing global desire for travel that is not only luxurious but also deeply meaningful and conservation-led. We had incredible conversations about how we can continue to push the boundaries of what a 'safari' can be—moving beyond the vehicle and into the heart of the landscape."

    Showcasing East African Luxury

While the event took place in the beautiful coastal city of Durban, our focus remained firmly on our home turf. We highlighted the incredible progress in Rwanda's high-end eco-tourism sector, the burgeoning luxury lodge scene in Uganda's Bwindi and Murchison Falls, and the timeless exclusivity of private conservancies in Kenya and Tanzania.
